No signal + rebooting + No change on battery

hey there, i'm currently having some problems with my iphone 5, at first i got my screen cracked, yet everything was working just fine, so i decided to give it a shot and try changing the LCD and the Digitizer, and order it online, the replacing went fine. the screen is working fine, but here is the issues that i'm facing:

1)the phone keeps rebooting it self every 5-10 mins (sometimes when its charging too)

2) the battery percentage wont change (even if i connected it to charger/laptop) unless it was rebooted.

3) the most important part is that i'm not getting ANY service at all, it keep searching for hours and mostly it says no service.

Here is what i tried from reading the other answers online to similar problems:

  • Hard reset
  • Reset the network settings
  • unplug the battery and re-plugging it
  • checked if my cellular antenna is missed placed or unplugged.
  • tried the airplane mode/ the time and the date trick
  • changing the carrier search from automatic to manual
  • Called phone my provider and asked them to reset/refresh the network

And it is still rebooting and keep searching for the network and can't tell what the battery percentage is

P.S: phone is not jailbroken, was working just fine before the screen replacement...Wish i can re-use the old screen, but unfortunately it is not working anymore

Here what confuse me, when i go to Settings >General > About... I see T-mobile name next to the Carrier section. Meaning that SIM card reader can actually read the SIM information

Maybe you guys can help me with any suggestions or ideas that might help? I would really appreciate it

Update: Ammar did send in this phone and it is back to 100% working after repairing the pry damage. No more rebooting and battery percentage increases/decreases as normal. The searching/no signal was solved by connecting to WiFi updating carrier settings, allowing time/date to automatically set and then toggling airplane mode.

Hi,

I suspect you have two problems---

1.) The knocked off battery components in your picture explain the reboot problem and the wrong charge percentage. This can be repaired---the phone will be able to stay on and report correct percentage as soon as you have the damage in this area fixed up.

2.) Searching/no signal is not related to damage in this area. I have seen four or five iPhone 5 cases now that have searching no signal with what I call "newbie technician damage"

There is a glass chip that is near the edge of the board near one of the screws. The chips is marked U16X and is part of the baseband circuit that control the cellular function of the phone---this chip is damaged easily by the use of bulky plastic tools to lift the interconnect cables, or slipped screwdrivers when screwing on the battery connector. I've noticed that the slightest damage to the edge of this chip will cause the phone to not produce an IMEI. I can't replace this chip (as of Sept 2014) and I believe that because it is the IMEI it requires simulataneous replacement of another chip as well. I am actively looking at improving our ability to do bga repair to solve problems like this, but right now we don't offer it.

Look to see if your phone is listing a modem firmware and IMEI---if not, then you have a baseband problem. If so, then you have a much simpler antenna based problem.

If you'd like to at least get the battery connector area damage fixed, then the phone would make a fine iTouch if it turns out your searching/no signal is a chip-level defect. Feel free to send it in for repair--find your way to our mail in instructions by clicking the iPad Rehab link below my name on the left.

Great! Thanks for responding

Can you please walk me through the way to find if the chip is defect or not? I mean i can provide images if i want me to

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but by the IMEI you meant as i can find it online? Or as registered on my Phone carrier? Am a bit confused

Thanks!

Start with going to settings--general--about. Then scroll down to the bottom. What does it say under "bluetooth"---can you see IMEI and a number? What does it say next to "modem firmware"--do you see a number or is it blank?

by

yes there is a number in both the IMEI and the modem firmware

That is great news! This means your phone is likely repairable and the searching is an antenna problem. If you want to send in for the board repair fix to the missing connectors at the battery area I can take a look at your antenna sockets under the microscope and see if that problem can be solved simply.
