XBox 360 Bungie Halo 3x is not showing a picture?

I have an XBox 360 Bungie Halo 3x that stopped showing a picture on my TV. The green circle goes around the solid green dot in the middle then stops with the dot still green. I can hear the fan running and it sounds like the console is running. I did some searching and someone said that it sounds like my cord with the blue, green, red, yellow and white on the end is damaged. I bought a new cord and plugged the new cord in as I unplugged the old one, as in I unplugged the green one on the old cord then plugged the green one on the new cord in. I also printed out from the XBox site a diagram on what to connect to my TV. In the diagram it shows the yellow part dangling and not connected to the console so that is how I hooked it up and that is exactly the way my brother hooked it up when I first got it. I have made sure the TV is set to the correct channel (video, component 1 or 2, and the HMI) I also made sure the switch on the end of the cord was set the same as the old one (HDTV or TV). With doing all that there is still no picture. Can anyone help me fix my console?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The blue, green and red cables are for HD only so will only work on YPbPr channel. Also make sure the switch on the end is HD if you are using green, blue and red or TV for red, yellow and white. Or try using an HDMI cable and switch your TV to the corresponding HDMI channel.

Alex: I rechecked my connections to make sure I had everything connected and set as you suggested, no dice. It still is not working. I have another question if you don't mind answering it. There are 4 thin green lights that are in a circle around the solid dot. Those lights go around when I fist turn the console on. However, the single light in the upper left that used to stay on no longer does. The green dot in the middle stays on. Could my problem possibly be the console is in fact broken? And if so, do you have any idea what it might be and what I could do myself to fix it?

Thank you for all your help.

The four green lights are to show which controllers are connected. The upper left will be your primary controller. It doesn't mean your console is broken. The console itself is not broken because from what you described it powers up. Do you have access to another TV and did you try an HDMI cable? (only use this if you have an Plasma, LCD or LED TV). Also if you could get a photo on here to show me how you have connected the console to the TV it may speed up a diagnosis.

Alex: Could you tell me how I can post a picture(s) on here so I can show you how it is hooked up to my TV. Also, if it is possible, how to post a video of the steps of turning on the console and tv which would show you and also allow you to hear it as well. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had to have surgery.

okay sorry for the delay i have been busy recently and haven't been online. To add an image or video where it says "add your answer" below you will see a little rectangle depicting mountains. Click this and find your image or video.

From your image i suggest only inserting one of the two sets. Standard definition is highlighted blue on my picture and High definition is highlighted red on my picture. Standard definition will be easier to start with so plug them into the corresponding sockets and make sure that the switch at the other end of the cable is switched to TV and not HDTV. Also make sure you have look at which channel the red, yellow and white socket corresponds to. It will most likely be something like AV1

Alex:Sorry it has been a while (Holidays, granddaughter, other projects, passing of my two oldest dogs). My son brought his X Box 360 over with his HDMI, 1: to see if the cable was the problem, 2: to see if the TV connections was the problem (Playstation 3 stopped working about the same time), and 3: to see if my X Box360 was the problem. His X Box 360 worked fine on my TV so he connected mine with his HDMI cable and it does not work. Really don't know where to go from here except to look around to see if there's somewhere to take it. Thank you for all your help.

I have just read online that if you: turn on the console and connect a controller; then press and hold "Y" while pulling the right trigger "rt" the display settings stored on the Xbox should restore to default and the Xbox will restart. I haven't ever tried this or even heard of it but it's worth a shot

I am sure going to give it a try, thank you. I will let you know what the end result is.
