Would a 1 T.B hybrid drive require special installation?

Does a 1 T.B hybrid drive require any special tools or cables to be installed in a Macbook pro early 2011 and any special software to run an OS, or can I just pop it in like a regular HHD or SSD?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The only thing is making sure the drive you get runs at the same SATA speed your system runs at.

You may also want to check your systems firmware is up to date. Otherwise nothing special from the hardware side.

As far as the OS side you may want to get a SATA to USB adapter so you can prep the drive and copy over your stuff. You will need the correct OS-X installer for your system either on your current HD or a bootable USB thumb drive.

You still need a means to prep the new drive (a drive with a bootable OS on it) running the system at the same time. A USB thumb drive (prepped as a bootable drive) will do or the SATA to USB adapter.
