Why is my iPhone 4s dead?

My iphone has recently been overheating when i charge it and the battery percentage had become very slow when on charge for hours. I took it to a local phone shop where they apparently changed the battery and it came on for a few hours here and there but now its completely dead and wont even turn on. can u tell me what the problam seems to be. i have taken it to apple and they told me they cant do anything now as its been through a 3rd party

Sukhi, if it has a new battery for sure, I would replace the dock connector next. It is possible that this is the reason for not charging. Here is the guide for it. Should that not work, take a look at the battery connector, make sure it is properly installed and that the solder points are okay etc. Should a new dock connector not work as well, then you are having issues with the SMD components on the board. To fix those you will need some special tools and lots of soldering experience. Hope this helps, good luck.
