Why wen I close my MacBook it doesn't go to sleep?

When i close my macbook it doesn't go to sleep, and stays on like if nothing happened, i tried putting some kind of code on the terminal but it doesn't work. how can i fix this problem?

Its probably due to settings, its possible that your mac is set to never sleep?

Try to go to "System Preferences" - "Energy Saver" :

-Check your "Turn display off "settings- whether its set to "never"- if yes then change according to your need

-or/and If the "Put hard disk to sleep when possible " is ticked on both the "Battery" and the "Power Adapter"
