would a bulging battery prevent a mac from turning on?

Hi,

I am going to purchase a 2011 mbp 15" that has a swollen battery and won't turn on.

I can get a battery for a good price .

What would potentially causing it not to turn on?

No liquid damage.

Thanks!

It could be a few different things:

I would first try running it with the battery removed to see if just using the power adapter the system will startup.

Do a careful inspection to see if the system got wet or has any damage

Try a different set of RAM modules or with only one and then try the other.

typically yes because majority of the time when a battery has swollen its reached end of its life, if possible remove the battery and try with just the charger.
