would a bulging battery prevent a mac from turning on?

I am going to purchase a 2011 mbp 15" that has a swollen battery and won't turn on.

I can get a battery for a good price .

What would potentially causing it not to turn on?

No liquid damage.

Sorry About that: serial # dh2g model: A1278

I have an email to an Apple corporate contact to see if they will let me know service issues with it.

thanks! any help or thoughts would be great ..

the guy insists there is no water damage at all.

It could be a few different things:

I would first try running it with the battery removed to see if just using the power adapter the system will startup.

Do a careful inspection to see if the system got wet or has any damage

Try a different set of RAM modules or with only one and then try the other.

typically yes because majority of the time when a battery has swollen its reached end of its life, if possible remove the battery and try with just the charger.
