How do I open my Kindle fire HDX case to replace screen

My screen is cracked on my Kindle Fire 7" HDX and I'd like to replace it, but i'm having trouble even getting the case open. There also don't seem to be any guides on how to do this with an HDX.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Alison,

Watch the start of the teardown video as a reference. There is a strip of plastic on the back that needs to be removed as a first step. It is shiny and has holes in for the speakers. It is held in place by tabs on the ends and adhesive especially off from the center of the strip. Use a safe open pry tool, isesamo, or a spudger to release the tabs and start peeling the plastic strip away from the kindle body.

A flat head screw driver will work just put it on the end of the back and pry open on each side

On the Kindle one on the Kindle to need to take off the screen to replace the battery. How do I do this. There is no way to take the back off. This Kindle is all one piece.

I thought mine was all one piece, too, but it isn't. There is a little black area at the top of the kindle and that is the part that needs to be loosened so the back can come off. I was suppose to get the tool with the replacement battery, but it was not included so I am going to try one of the suggestions above. Even watching the videos, it shows how difficult it is to remove and how much it is all sealed together. I found a couple videos I'm going to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6e5-H_U... and
