I accidentally fed my iPhone's 4 headphone jack with 9V DC

I accidentally fed my iPhone's 4 headphone output with 9V DC while playing around with electronics. **I'm an idiot, I know that**.

The phone then rebooted and now all I get from it's output is a distorted crackling sound.

I've thought of replacing the headphone jack, however I found out that using a line out cable from the dock gives the same distorted output, so it probably wont fix it.

Is there something I can do to try to fix it besides replacing the entire logic board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Joe Lenn, use the repair guides from here. That is the first thing I would replace. While you are working on that, check the logic board for obvious damage, like a burned, charred component. Should this not work, you may have take a closer look at the audio IC. This would be a difficult repair and should be done only if you have the experience and the tools to do a reball. Hope this helps, good luck
