HP Pavilion 17-e020dx - How do I change audio/microphone jack?

I usually connect my computer to the stereo through the headphone port for sound. My dog caught the cord and yanked it out hard, succeeding in killing the cord. Funny thing is.. the headphones still work, but I have no sound on my computer speakers now. The jack works with a little love, but is touchy and loose. I have searched and looked and found just about nothing for replacing the sound board, jack, or parts. I need help. I have tried just about every software fix including refreshing. (Win 8) 64.

I have been living with it for a couple months, but it'd be nice to have sound. A tear down guide would be good.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Dean Stone II, you would have to remove the motherboard. Get the service manual from here. Page 73 will tell you how to remove the board. Once removed, you will have to unsolder the old jack from the board. Now the fun starts, and that is finding a replacement. I'd start with places like Digikey.com or Mouser.com and search by the physical dimension of your port. Hope this helps, good luck
