Both fans died, fans rotate freely, sensor shows the temp

Both fans not operating. No air output. Installed the fan control, which is seeing the temp and trying to ramp the fans (assume that means the temp sensor is likely working).

So I followed the disassembly guide to replace the fans, but as both stopped working at the same time, was suspicious. Both fans rotate freely. Didn't test them on an alt power supply, so possibly bad.

Any thoughts on a power supply or control problem to the fans? All connectors seemed good. Hate to buy 2 fans when it might be some other issue

Options

Run Apple Diagnostic or Hardware test. It should diagnose the problem... but the fans would need to be reconnected.

You don't have to completely reassemble the box (since you'll have to do repairs), just reassemble enough to run it safely.
