iPhone Will Not Restore (Error 21) And doesn't charge either.
I have been tinkering with the iPhone 5 I managed to get for $15 off craigslist and it appears that all the parts seem just about ok. The only problem is I can't get the device to restore. At first the battery was bad because it held no charge so I got a new battery. This new battery upon installation allowed the iPhone 5 to power on but immediately shows the "Plug Into Itunes" recovery screen. Also the iPhone would get extremely burning hot on the logic board as soon as this battery was plugged in. In a matter of 2 minutes.
After about 3 minutes, the iPhone no longer burns but the battery is dead of charge because the iPhone won't charge the battery either when plugged in (So I am thinking the battery had about 20% charge as new battery being purchased but has died out from the use I had in 30 minutes of testing)
My question is this: Is it possible the charger chip found by the A5 chip is burned out? Also, that would only explain charging. What about overheating? Why is the board pulling the charge from the battery instantly before actually being powered on first? Should I clean and check for corrosion under the metal hoods of the board? Is the iPhone still fixable at this point?
I am coming to a conclusion that I can't restore (Error 21) because It is battery issue. Battery is replaced but now it won't charge and motherboard overheats tremendously!
Any advice from experienced users would help. I can only do soo much with experimenting and questioning on my own :)
Is this a good question?
