Glass removal using iopener?

Ive just started a small local mobile repair service which is getting fairly busy. Im currently buying display assemblies for around £20 and fitting them easily within half hour.

Im thinking about cutting spares costs and looking to go the glass only method. I tried to do the heat gun + razor blade method on a couple of 4s but i just ended up cutting and ruining the lcd.

Ive seen some methods of the hot plates and cutting wires but i cant really afford to shell out for a machine at this moment in time.

Ive got an iopener on its way for ipad repairs so was wondering if this would heat up the display right and then go on to use some wire to remove the glass.

Anyone tried this and any success? Thanks in advance

Tbh I wouldn't recommend the Iopener it will never get an ipad adesive even the glue for the lcd as hot as it needs to be plus do you want to be running to the microwave every minute to heat up..

Only tool for the job is a heat gun..

Glass only is super difficult without the right tools and will take to so much longer to repair I would stick with the full screen assembly's

Oh really :( thought the iopener was supposed to be a decent way of getting the ipad open, maybe i should send back. Ive not had a great history with heat guns so was trying to avoid.

As for the iphone glass removal i definatly see your point but its getting to a point where i can make so much moe profit if i can do the glass only. Saying that i do get decent rates on selling the old lcds so knocks the outgoing assembly costs down a bit.

Will have a play with some current dead ones i have to see if i can get a method that works for me

So did the iOpener work pretty good? I am thinking about getting one myself for repairs so I can make profit as well. I just need to kow how good it actually works and if it works for any model phone besides Apple.
