How to tell if the motherboard needs replacement. any videos?

It was suggested to myself, to check the mother board before, I replaced my Hard Drive with 3 TB, as the present 2133 I mac will not boot and death wheel spinning. How do I do this?

Options

First, Do you have a friend who has a Mac that you can interconnect via FireWire. If you do try starting your system in target mode and see if you can access your systems HD. If you can't you know the HD is gone.
