Hard Drive Free Space Problem

I partitioned hard drive in two parts. "C" drive's total space is 20 GB. I get a warning pop up message that there is low available space in "C" Drive.

When, I total the space occupied by each folders in the "C" drive it becomes 11 GB only.

I have not hidden any file or folder. But while clicking right on the "C" drive it shows free space only 700 MB only. HOW IT HAPPENS ?. How to I know what all files/folders are occupying the space.

I guess you are using windows xp or 2000, a part of the missing space is used by the pagefile.sys (a swap file) and hiberfil.sys (for the hibernation mode). turning off/reducing is possible.

CLICK here for more infos and a simple way to switch them off

if you are using the "standard" setting of the windows explorer - you won't see the hidden files

To see hidden files:

1.On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.

2.Click the View tab.

3.Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
