How do you fix a broken clasp?

I accidentally broke the little black clasp that was holding the microphone ribbon cable in place on the motherboard. What would be the simplest way to reconnect it securely?

I'm sorry to say that there isn't a good way that I know of to connect this cable securely without the clasp on the connector. I've seen all kids of things tried for this, glue, silicone, tape, etc. and nothing worked well.

If it isn't broken you can put it back in...it's no easy but it is possible. You would need some type of magnifier (jewlers loupe, microscope, monacle, etc.) to see what you are doing, some fine tip tweezers and a steady hand.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply!

Would I be able to solder it on? The ribbon cable is perfectly fine, and other than the clasp being broken, the motherboard looks fine as well

There is no way that I know of to solder it on. If you tried it would just ruin the cable. The only hope you would have is if you are a really good solderer and have a microscope to solder with you could take some very fine wire and solder one end to the pad on the cable and the other to the corresponding pin on the connector.

This would take forever and may not even work very well so it is not a good option. Even thought it is hard to replace the clasps it is much easier than soldering it would ever be.
