White Hue Discoloration on HDMI ports
I bought this TV Samsung LCD TV LN46A500T1F in late 2009 so it has certainly seen its share of use at this point but I'm hoping that someone might be able to shed some idea on whether this is something worth fixing or replacing.
A couple weeks ago 1 of my 2 total hdmi ports starting displaying intense white hues as more purple and sometimes teal (not too dissimilar to a negative picture) which would fade out to the more natural and accurate colors. A good example would be the white netflix logo on the PS3, it has a large ring of purple with white corners and the red lettering remains unaffected. I had troubleshooted this to being the HDMI port through testing multiple sources (PS4, cable box and PS3) and 3 different cables all displaying the same effect but working fine on the second HDMI port. Now it seems as though my second port is starting to show the effect and getting worse. Given the age of the TV and the economics can anyone shed some light on the potential of repairing this TV?
Couple other details... I hadn't touched my screen settings at all before the first one showed up, all though I have since played with it to no avail. Also it seems to display quite a few whites just fine but the effect is noticeable in the "source not connected" box that floats around although very slight.

Is this a good question?

Is this isolated to the HDMI ports? what does it look like when you use a different source, not the HDMI?

To be fair on that I'm not sure, I might have something that uses the component or composite cables laying around. I'll take a look and post back later. I kind of assumed it was limited to HDMI as the first port went sideways a good 2 weeks prior to it becoming an issue on the second one yesterday but my technical knowledge on electronics is rather limited and I'm just guessing at this point.

let us know what you find if when you connect something like a composite cable etc. It is entirely possible that this is a. a video board issue or b. an LCD issue

Well, I found a camera and looked through the photos and its showing up through composite cables so it is definitely not strictly an HDMI issue. Upon closer inspection it looks as though it effects the red/orange spectrum a little bit as well from looking at the life jackets in the photos.

Since we can not see what you see I will have to guess a bit. you are having somewhat of a purple haze on your LCD?
