does the padding have any importance to it?

hey in the middle of repair and was wondering if I mess up the padding on the antennae will I mess up the whole? and there's also the same padding on the connectors will there be any consequence if that somehow is ripped off?

Im finding some sticky spots on the bottom. The lightning cable had some sticky glue? on it possibly is it supposed to be sticky like that?

The padding is there so when the shield is placed on top it that it cannot disconnect..
