Dropped Phone, worked fine, now turned itself off and appears Dead :-(

I dropped my iPhone off my lap in the car park and didn't realise - when I went back to get it, it looked like it had been walked on (dents in the back, the top white strip shattered in the opposite corner to camera), but screen was fine.

All was fine, other than looking beaten up and was working as per normal. A week later it would occasionally turn itself off for no reason. The other day it turned itself off and will not turn back on... seems to be dead!

I have tried checking the battery but replacing the battery has not worked. I plugged it into the mac and still unresponsive. It's not registering on the mac as connected. Nothing appears to be loose inside... any ideas??

Answer this question I have this problem too

If you have changed the battery leave it connected to the computer for 30minutes as the battery could be flat and will only get recognised if at main screen.. That's if the main display is faulty and you cannot see anything

Thanks for replying - I just tried this and still no sign of life. I was wondering if it's anything to do with the connections to the battery rather than the battery itself?? I've been reading online and wondered if it was related to the U2 IC component... has anyone had any dealings with this part?
