Is it possible to rewire the power adopter megasafe2

I need the wiring diagram to locate the fault and to diagnose it and the logic behind the wiring diagram, this will help us since in INDIA these spares are quite expensive, how do we take care of the surges also if explained it will be very useful.

Thank you

Apple does not offer schematics for the power adapters as it's not treated as a repairable unit.

You may want to review this Apple TN: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters

Without dissecting a working unit to document the components and trace-out the empty PCB to make your own schematic on how the unit is wired is the only way I know of to reverse engineer it.

As to the root issue you stated you think a power surge damaged the unit. Lightening can also kill a plugged in adapter.

I would start with getting a good surge suppressor to plug in your power adapter. But it will be of little benefit if you don't have a good building ground and have a correctly wired grounded outlet to plug it into. Here is were you'll need to find someone with the needed skills to make sure the fuse/breaker panel is wired correctly.

Thank you very much for the wonderful answer all I need is how do we do the reverse engineering probably are there any logic board where in we can connect the output mimic the operations and find out the faults if any one or any academician done any research and if any paper has been prepared it will be very useful for me.Thank you

I don't know of anyone ever doing it. It will be something you will need to do. We just throw them away if they are bad or broken.

Thank you very much for the answer.I thought to throw away will create environment issues hence I took up such a deep study,I will try and if I make some headway I will keep you informed.NARAYANAN LAKSHMANAN

Which is to bad. We should may be spend some time on some reverse engineering. @Dan, you ran into bad Magsafe or Magsafe2 a lot? How do they hold out in the real world? @NARAYANAN LAKSHMANAN do you think there might be a need for a good guide and reverse engineering for the Indian market? Do you have easy access to electronic components?

by

I an amateur and not a professional electronics engineer and I consult engineers on these issues of course i make use of their laboratory for learning these issues and i can buy electronic components also.
