MacBook wont turn on, will display green adapter light/orange charging

This is similar to an issue I read about on these Ifixit questions pages about a Macbook Unibody 1342 and the question was as follows: "My macbook suddenly stopped turning on. It will show green when i put my magsafe in and it charges the battery (orange light) but thats it. No chime no screen response. Now i have heard of this 'jumping' idea to turn the macbook on directly from the logic board, but i cant quite work out what exact componets i have to touch, does nybody have a picture showing which parts i need to touch on this model to get it to jump?"

It turns out that someone did supply pictures and when tried, it did turn on the device. My question is, could this solution also be compatible with my 1278 unibody?

locate R5015 pads on logic board just above trackpad connector, and short the pads to power up logic board.

It might be your power switch is defective or the ribbon cable from the upper case is not seated in the connector fully. Take a picture of the keyboard ribbon cable/connector if you think thats it. Be careful here as there is a latch on the connector that needs to be released and then set once the cable is inserted. Also don't damage the ribbon cable, it can tear. Review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Unibody Model A1278 Logic Board Replacement Step 15 shows the keyboard ribbon cable and connector.

Hint: try using a piece of electrical tape to grab the cable for both pulling it out as well as putting it into the socket.
