Why is this crashing?

Hey. So, I have a 3ds that always was working fine. About 2 days ago, I went to gamestop and picked up a copy of Pheonix Wright, ace attorney. It played fine for a while. Then, this morning when I tried to start up the system, it became a blank, gray screen on both screens. And then, it just made a weird "Pop" noise and died. I tried using a different game pack, (Star fox 64 3D) and the same thing happened. So i started experimenting, and i figured out it had something to do with the hinge. When i have the hinge bended forward so it looks like a right angle, the 3ds launches fine. But when it's on, if i try to put the hinge back into normal position, it makes the weird "Pop" noise and dies again. The system doesn't load either when i use the hinge is the obtuse position. Can i get a little help?

I know you posted this a few days ago, so perhaps you've already answered the question yourself, but if you haven't, the problem is the speaker cable. It's pinched, frayed, or may even have a tiny tear in it. You can fix it yourself, but it's certainly one of the more irritating repairs to do, so you may want to have a professional do it.

The nice thing about doing it yourself though is that it's actually very cheap. You can buy just the ribbon cable itself and reuse your original speakers to save money, rather than buying the cable with new speakers already soldered on. One bit of advice though is that if you buy a third-party speaker cable from eBay you should buy two just to be safe. Sometimes they're faulty straight from the factory. If you buy an original cable taken from another 3DS console though it should be fine to get just one, since the seller should have tested it.
