New battery has poor health.

I purchased the "new" stock battery for $119 and it came with 1 cycle and a supposed 5799mAh rating on the box.

After putting the battery in, the health meter told me the battery had 95% health.

Now, at 3 cycles, the battery health has dropped to 91% and 5291mAh... Is this a defect replacement???

Can you give us some background on why you replaced the battery and can you give us some more info on the replacement battery. Is it an Apple battery or 3rd party?

Download Coconut Battery, which may be better at diagnostics than what you are currently using. Install and run it and let us know your results: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

Thanks Mayer,

According to Coconut battery (now at 7 cycles), health is at 88.2% or 5091mAh. Sometimes it goes +/-1%, but overall it's headed downhill quite quickly.

That drop is to fast. I'd return it for a replacement.

Same problem with MBA 2011 "new" battery purchased on ifixit europe. According to coconut battery, the battery was 300 days old when I received it. Now, after one month, it only holds 86% of the maximum theoretical charge. Furthermore, I got no answer from the support to my enquiry about this problem. Pretty disappointing...

Update : after a second trial I got an answer this time. Ifixit Europe will send me a replacement battery. I don't need to send back the defective one: that's convenient. I will make a second update to tell you if the new battery works.

Update 2 : After 23 cycles, the replacement battery's capacity is 6200 mAh. It is a nominal value for a 258 days old battery.
