Cleaning the insides from sand?

Two days ago i went on a half-day tour in the dunes of Namibia. The iPod have always been in my pocket, i never rolled in the sand or something like that, just sat or kneeled to take some pictures, but some sand grain got in my pockets anyway and some got inside the iPod.

Now the Home Button doesn't click anymore (still makes contact when pushed quite hard, but doesn't move) and since yesterday evening the speaker is all scratchy when playing music or sounds. Some sounds doesn't always play (like the clicks for standby).

I'm sure it is just a matter of cleaning (at least, if done soon) but doesn't seem it is possible to buy just the kit for opening the iPod.

How can i manage to buy one?

The iPod is 1 year old the battery still works fine.

I have never seen tools like those seen in the guides for other phones... i was searching on iFixit for ordering, but if so i will try to search around, at least in EU, maybe less transport fees.

As waiting, it is not possible, i will probably extend my VISA up to september

of course you can buy the opening tools - but i don't know if you get those tools in namibia without any problems - maybe in windhoek - but thats only a guess.

if you find a second hand cell phone shop - there is the best chance to find them.

there are other ways to open the iPod, but that could led to more problems - so i would try to find the regular tools (the iPod toolset is the same as for many cell phones)

the step by step gudes are here on ifixit - i would use the guide for the front panel.

the namib sand is very fine - it would most likely the best to wait until you are in an almost dust free environment

you can order them pretty cheap on ebay, i bought my set for around 2,50€ - but the shipping to namibia would cost more than within germany
