I have a similar problem, but with the ZL button on my New Nintendo 3DS. My problem is I replaced the L/ZL buttons, but ZL still isn’t working. Could someone please give me an idea of what else I’d need to do? I’d truly appreciate it.

Hey mate, It might just be dust/derbies etc under the R button/on etc, the shoulder trigger button switch which to fix, you simply need to open it up and clean the button and where it sits. Thought, it could also be a faulty shoulder trigger button switch, as it seems Nintendo doesn't exactly put robust ones in. The button looks like this; http://www.ebay.com/itm/3DS-NEW-OEM-R-L-...

and is easy to replace if you are confident opening up the 3DS and replacing it. This tear down should help you in the replacement; Nintendo 3DS Right Shoulder Button Replacement

Hope it helps
