Airport Icon not showing up. No Airport card error

Macbook 13" A1278 Mid 2008

I have a late 2008 macbook unibody aluminum and it would not let me connect to wifi because arport was not an option. I bought a new airport card and installed it but even after that there still is no option for airport in network settings. Please help.

Look under the Apple in the upper left hand corner to "about this Mac". Go down to the wi-fi and see if your machine sees the card.

First, click the + icon in network settings. Choose airport/wifi for the interface. Click create, then click apply. If that doesn't work, check the cable connections. If that doesn't help, replace the logic board.

i would have tried that but it doesn't even show up it only has ethernet, bluetooth dun and pan and ppoe and vpn and some other thing i dont know about.

and replacing logic board wont help as the airport card is completely separate from logic board. The weird thing is that the camara and bluetooth both work. Which share the same cable connecting the single wifi/bluetooth card

Hit the add button (+) and add the wi-fi to the list of options.

i already tried that no option for wifi show up

Well it took a little while but i figured it out. It turns out the logic board connector had bent pins so i carefully bent them back into place and wifi works flawlessly now thanks for both of your answers.

Had the same problem Valiera .. with all the same symptoms and attempts ...

... a difference is a screw on the vent is shredded! I can't take the vent off and because of that can't remove the airport card! I hadn't checked the logic board pins, will try that next.

Thanks for your thread it lead to something new.
