Why would my mac powers on then shut off

I purchased an 08 15" macbook pro. It powered on but then shut off. I took it home took it all apart, found a small amount of corrosion on the bottom side of the board. soaked in alcohol and fully cleaned the board, let it dry put it back in and it does the same. I found that if i leave the lcd cable to the board unplugged it fully boots up and i used it with the external port fine. Tried another lcd and does the same. Is the pin connector bad or something else? The connector on the logic board looks fine and the corrosion was on the bottom under the speaker. Any help appreciated.

Call your local Mac repair guy (not an authorized repair store) tell him you issue and ask if he has a spare display unit that can be plugged into your machine. A loose screen can just be plugged into your board to test it out and the only tear down is removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the LDVS cable.

Actually this is how I test out screens normally, with the exception that I have a known working machine before I start.
