Block Image

So my niece dropped her ds lite and broke off one of the power inductors on her ds lite how do i fix this? Where can i order this part? How do i solder this piece on with out breaking the teeth? Is this the reason why when i power it on the green light comes on for about 2 seconds, the screen flickers then it turns off?

Hey mate. As its a SMD soldering job, its not going to be the easiest of jobs, but it is do able. This guide should hopefully help you on that part; http://www.instructables.com/id/Intro-in...

As for where you can get a new one, its a little tricky. After just a quick search I did find this place...but its in France;

You might be better off, if you cant do SMD soldering, to replace the mother board, plus its easier to locate. Heres a guide to replacing the mother board.

I saw the L2 L4 fuses but would that work for what im needing? If you look at the main picture of the mother board of the last link that was sent on the bottom left hand corner right above the headphone jack are 2 round circular pieces labeled "L5, L6" and right below the L2 fuse there is another one now ive notice they are not all circular some are square like the one i have.. What is that part called? Is it a power inductor? And how do i get one

I would suggest that you post a couple of images with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. It will enable us to see what you see.

OK it is a power inductor, BUT you would need to get one of the exact same value. Plus, from talking to a work colleague, if you somehow brake a SMD component off or damage one, you generally brake the track on the board. Also SMD soldering is pretty hard. You could give it a go if you wanted and its a 100 uH Ferrite-Core General Purpose Inductor I THINK, sorry i'm not to well versed on SMDs. You can get them pretty much anywhere

Haha its ok mate. It shouldn't be to hard to get them in smaller amounts, but I don't think you can buy just one.
