iPhone cycles through Apple logo but does not start!

I have a 32gb 3gs that has some water damage! The Phone will stay on when plugged in but will not start. The device will cycle through the apple logo many times but does not initiate. I was thinking maybe the battery is shot and needs replacement.

Answer this question I have this problem too

when plugged in it just cycles through the apple logo. I tried restoring it but it gives me an error. I cant remember what the code was but I looked up the code and pretty much the phone doesnt have enough charge to do a restore.

Hello Jason,

I have exactly the same problem with my 32Gb 3GS. Contrary to you, it fell down from 1 meter on asphalt.

I opened it, removed the battery and check every connections : same problem...i tried this method but nothing, when I let my iPhone charging, i have to hard reset on apple and it doesn't power on until I wait few hours...probably battery but not sure...

The battery can sometimes be problematic - thats why i always measure them with a multimeter. if the voltage is to low - i try to charge them external - sometimes with a rc balancer, sometimes with an old gps device. if you don't have the tools for that - maybe you should look around on ifixit if someone could help you out - it's a little bit international here - so maybe you could try that option

Try a different charger to rule out a faulty charger.
