I had the same problem and was just able to fix it.

By pushing the charger-jack to the direction of the display or pushing on the phone close to the same jack sometimes the GPS still got some fix. So it seemed that my GPS antenna was somehow disconnected.

The antenna seems to be a plate which is located in the inner frame of the phone (see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeBC3pcs... on1:24). I cleaned the contacts located in the frame as well as on the side of the maonboard and bent them a little bit towards the frame. I guess the most important one is the golden one right under the charger-jack (see 1:41 on the very right side).

Since then its working again ;)

Got the same problem since july on my Xperia ZL.

After some research I noticed that my compass is going nuts, it keeps rotating. So since the phone is not able to detect North, East, South and West, he isn't able to obtain a GPS lock.

You can check that by entering in your dialer : *#*#7378423#*#*

this wil open the Sony Service Menu, go to service test, and there test your compass.

I got the yaw value that keeps increasing to 359, and then restarts from 0, like in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7je_iec...

Same problem here in Xperia Z3 compact... GPS Test shows No Fix, so it can't locked the satellites that there are about 20 available. Has anyone managed to solve this problem?

Having same problem with Z5... terrible finding fix and takes way too long, despite seeing more than 15 satellites at any given time. Anybody found a fix? I've attempted to work the issue with the Service Provider and there is nothing on their end that they can do. Constantly having to perform the GPS reset, power down and then the time consuming GPS location test, for the phone to forget location 30 mins later.

Type in the code as described above to enter the Sony service menu. Go to:

service tests -> GPS

Then tap 'purge assistance data'. GPS apps contain tables to help them locate the sats by predicting where they are. If this is corrupt or incorrect it will knock out yr GPS. Purging refreshes the tables. Did it on mine and it clicked straight in! Also holding phone vertically appeared to help.
