iOS Data Recovery and iOS Recovery Mac provides three simple ways for any iPhone iPad iPod users to directly restore the lost and deleted data, or extract the lost data from iTunes or iCloud backup with ease. So, you can get back lost iPhone data after upgrading to iOS 10/9.3.3/iOS 9.2/iOS 9 with the help of this software. I don't think the fix should be that expensive, $225 cost more than the logic board itself. As you've mentioned, you're able to get the iPhone to be on recovery mode after plugging into computer, so it appears to be some sort of recovery mode loop. You might want to try this software called TinyUmberella, you can use it to exit the phone out of its recovery mode.

The program will detect the device straight away after you plug it into your computer, heres the full instructions + download link

After its out of the recovery mode, you might need to restore the iPhone, you'll lose current data so here's how to recover those data (Extract data from iPhone through Recovery Mode)

Otherwise, if the software doesn't fix it, you might've accidentally pryed/damaged the jumpers off the motherboard/logic board (but I found it quite unlikely that you have digged a "hole" if its still able to turn on, especially since you were only replacing the battery). It seems like a common problem, so you might want to have a look at these threads as well:

I don't understand what you mean by, "A hole" Is there a hole in the mother board? That sounds quite strange if that's the case. Could you take a picture of what you mean? When you took the battery out of the phone, did you pry it between the logic board/motherboard (it's the same thing) or did you take it between the chassi/battery?

If you pried between the battery/logic board it's possible you've damaged the logic board.

You can try to use a program called Tiny Umbrella which forces it out of recovery mode.

You can try this way by following steps:

1. Factory Reset your iPhone to Get out of Recovery Mode. In this process, all your data will be erased, so you should back them up before recovery.

2. Exit Recovery Mode with iPhone Data Recovery. After that, your iPhone will be restored and everything will return to normal.

That's it, it is not complicated. All you need is iPhone Data Recovery this recovery tool.

This is the tutorial: iPhone Stuck in Recovery Mode that you can visit for more details.

While you want to fix your iPhone stuck in recovery mode, you can try to detect your phone to iTunes and reset your phone in DFU mode. But in this way, you will lose your data if you have no backup before. Or you can try the iOS system recovery tool from FORecovery to help you out.
