Pulled a connector off the mother board.

I pulled the socket for the blue and white wires, the power cable, in step 32 in hard drive replacement instructions, off the main board. Will the computer run without these wires connected? What "power" do they control?

If it cannot run this way, what are my options?

If you think you're not enough skilled or you don't have the tools to do such a solder repair, find an electronic shop in your area and bring them the iBook with the top case removed. Ask the tech to resolder the power connector. Four small solders have to be done (2 if you only want to restore the electrical contact). It's a 5 minutes job so it should be a cheap repair.

I looked at step 32 and it appears to be the speaker connection. Which means your Book can run without it.

I looked at other directions which labeled the blue and white wires as step 26. So, it seems they are the "power wires". If so, they are likely going to the on/off switch. I may be able to solder the wire back on the board directly. The next question is which side which wire goes to.

Any help here?

Since you describe the socket for blue and white wires I think maybe you are referring to step 31 not step 32. If that's the case those are the wires to the power switch and the following links should help you with the repair. Good luck. Ralph
