Problems With Optibay Caddy and ssd

Hi I recently purchased two samsung evo 840 and a optibay caddy, removed my dvd drive from my mac put in the two ssd but couldn't format the one in the optibay caddy, had no issues with the one in HD position, was going to set up raid 0, checked the link speed both state 6 gigabit. have swapped drives out and the caddy one will format in the HD position, any help pleases,

First I would make sure your iMac's EFI firmware is the newest. Follow this Apple TN:EFI & SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs.

I would also Check with Samsung on any firmware updates they may have.

Next you may want to review this: Depending on your model you may encounter issues with the optical drives port speed. Here's a good reference from OWC Optical to SATA Drive Converter Bracket Solution. It makes no difference who's product you have this is an Intel controller issue in the given model.
