Why is necessary to remove whole screen display unit to replace the glass as detailed here - MacBook Unibody Model A1278 Front Display Glass Replacement

Can the process from step 15 be completed without dismantling the computer?

There are a number of demos like this one on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYu40hH9J... and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4LLOhLH2... that show the glass removal without disassembly.

It's necessary because you have to detach the part from where it connects to the main part of the computer. That's the problem with these unibodies, beautiful on the outside, but a pain to repair.

It is NOT necessary to remove the assembly. I do it all the time without taking the machine apart.
