Laptop monitor display has purple line flicker

HI Guys,

I have connected an external monitor to the laptop which proves it is not a graphics card issue. I have tried to reset the P-RAM without success.

Options

Then the symptom points to either the cable or the the display. If moving the screen at all, or pressure on the case changes the lines it's more likely the LVDS cable.

hi Machead, it doesn't seem to be the cable, very weird.

LCD's do go bad, get damaged. What year is this machine? Has it been dropped or had anything stacked on it, or squeezed in a case or compartment?

Yes, it was dropped in 2010 and has been fine since. It was built in July 2009.
