Replacing a regular iPad mini display with a Retina display assembly?

Is there anything to keep....some random person....from replacing their iPad Mini's display assembly with a iPad Mini w/ Retina Display assembly?

Would said device work? If not, what's keeping it from working?

This is an intriguing question for me, because it would save said random person $300, if they bought a display assembly from a parts website.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sure you could replace it and it would fit. But it won't turn on.

I mean absolutely no offense to you, so please don't take it this way, but I'm really only interested in "yes" or "no" answers and explained why.

Could you maybe expand on this answer? Is the lcd larger in depth than the regular? is it wider/taller? What about the motherboard makes it not fit?
