Which guide to replace screen?

I just ordered a screen to replace my broken MacBook 13.3 screen and I'm doing my homework to make sure I know which is the best instructions to do the replacement. There are two guides on this site: Installing a MacBook Core Duo LCD Panel and Installing Mackbook Core Duo Display. They look to be similar except the former has 60 steps. The later has 34.

My further question about these two guides is that they require a dismantling of the computer body. I read elsewhere on the net that this replace/repair can be done by just opening the screen display itself.

Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you.

Please ID your mac and let us know what the result is. We don't know what guides you're talking about until we get more specific with which MacBook it is.

Also, you'll probably have to go through the body of the computer if you want to do a proper replacement of the screen, there just isn't any way around that.

I would guess that the difference between the 'display' and 'LCD panel' guides has to do with the fact that one probably removes the entire display (assembly and all) and the other most likely removes the LCD panel (the part you replace) from the display assembly. Just my guess.

I mentioned above that there were other sites that had instructions that didn't require getting into the computer body. Here is that link: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD Panel Replacement

hmm...sorry, I typed in the computer model when I posted my initial question. It is a mackbook duo core that requires a 13.3 screen. I downloaded mactracker and it says that my computer is either a MB402LL/A or B, early or late 2008.

Installing a MacBook Core Duo LCD Panel - is for the LCD panel(screen) only

Installing Mackbook Core Duo Display - for the entire display assembly (screen & casing)

It can be done without dismantling the entire unit (http://www.thebookyard.com/images/manual...) but i wouldn't recommend it as there is a risk you could bend the hinges and the bezel on the front of the display is really hard to get back in once it is out. i find it easier to go the long way round as the ifixit guides suggest.

Your link is a 404, but I entirely agree with this.
