Wii U pad will not power on console

My Wii U pad can power off the unit but will not power it on. The TV remote on it works, and once the console and Wii U game pad are powered on it operates just fine. The only defect I notice is doesn't power one the console.

I just upgraded the firmware and now have the quick-launch menu on my game pad. I am still unable to turn it on from it so it makes the quick launch menu useless. Sad.

I am able to power on the system with a pro-controller. I tested a friends gamepad, after syncing it with my wii U and I was unable to get it to power on the system.

Does anyone know where the receiver is in the Wii U I could look at?

I am not able to power it on from the wii remote either, but I can from the pro controller or by hitting the power button on the front of the console.

my wii pad wont connect with the console and I am unable to turn the power off the console using the pad....any ideas guys and girls??
