Who knows this MBA capacitors partnumber and specifications?

I'm having trouble identifying a component on the mainboard of a MacBook air 13" mid 2011.

As a result of water damage this cap was fried, leaving the LCD backlight broken. The rest of the system seems to be fine, so there is a small chance that repairing this cap will restore the system.

I don't have the schematics for this particular model (only a newer and older model) which makes identification a bit tricky.

I'm guessing it's some (high freq) ceramic capacitor to smooth out the voltage for the led backlights or something.

Does anybody know the part number or the voltage and capacitance of this component?

Here is an image of the mainboard. The component that has been blown is marked with a red border.

Thanks,

Peter.

Voxnulla , what is your computers serial number? this will help us to properly identify your logic board.

by

It's the 13" mid 2011 MBA, Model identifier : MacBookAir4.2, model number: A1369.

The logicboard is identical with regards to this component to this iFixit teardown : MacBook Air 13" Mid 2013 Teardown

The ordernumber is either MC965LL/A or MC 966LL/A. I don't have it here to check at the moment, but I think this has to do with options that are not relevant to this part.

Thank,

Greetings,

Peter.

voxnulla, I do have the schematic for the logicboard for the computer in the teardown. Compare your posted image with the image in the teardown at step 12. Take a look at the components, the layout is different.

Chosen Solution

voxnulla, the teardown you linked to has a different board. Here is your board

and here is the same area of the board in the teardown

Looking at both boards and the T-bone formation that those capacitors are placed, I marked the reference designators on the image, I am certain they are identical components, just different placements. Both of those components are 10UF 50V10% capacitors in a 1210-1 package.

Confirmation can be made with the proper identification of the logic board. Check for a 820-XXXX number on your board or give us the serial number of your computer. Hope this helps, good luck.

Update

I just verified with the schematic. Yes, those are the same values as well as the same reference designators. The caps are 10UF 50V10% capacitors in a 1210-1 package.

How silly of me. I see what went wrong there. I linked the teardown of mid 2013 MBA.

Actually the board in the repair manual MacBook Air 13" Mid 2011 Logic Board Replacement

Is the same as my board. I'll try and get the serial next week, but the specs on that cap seem to be what I was looking for.

Thanks a lot so far,

Peter.

Fantastic! I'll order a bunch and I'll have a crack at it!

Thanks a million!
