Why won't my backlight work?

I've had my Ipod for 6 years now and replaced the battery myself.

A long time ago my backlight stopped working for no apparent reason.

I've tried dismantling and reassembling my Ipod but to no avail.

Will I have to replace my display in order to make the backlight work?

The first course of action (after reassembling and checking connections, which you already did - great job!) is to restore the iPod. Back up all data on the iPod and restore through iTunes. It's possible that this is caused by a software issue.

If this doesn't fix the problem, replace the display.

If a new display does not solve the problem, all signs point to the logic board.

I hope this helps!
