Replace 3GS back with 2G model: Possible?

I love my iPhone 3GS very much, except for the plastic back-cover. It's the only thing I like better with the original iPhone. Recently I found a small crack around the dock-connector-port and since my warranty is about to expire, I was wondering if it was possible to replace the 3GS back-cover with a 2G one. And, if not, if anybody has an alternative, because I really don't like the plastic back. Thanks!

Nope, you just can't do that, the shape and size are all wrong, the only alternative I can think of is buying a case or skin for it.
