The home button isn't working?

The button started to feel like stuck and then i started to push it but then it didn't work anymore... they say there's a piece inside of the iPod that is broken but it costs like $30 US dollars and i would have to wait one week for the piece... the problem is that I didn't go to an Apple Store.
