Backlight working but screen is black

When I turn on my MacBook, I can hear the chime and I see that the backlight is working but the screen is totally black. I can see that the backlight is working because the screen is lighter than when it is off. I replaced the LCD panel, but there is no change. What could the problem be?

Try an external Monitor. If that works the video chip is fine. Than it can only be the LVDS (video signal) cable or a faulty display panel.

Jeez, we really need a FAQ section here ;-)

Using an external monitor gives the same problem. Where can I get a video chip to solder onto the motherboard?

Video Chip replacement not DIY

Logic board repair is an art, and requires special (expensive) equipment. You could send it off to have it replaced and re-balled.

Good Luck,
