only charges when screen is off, doesn't connect to pc

When my phone is plugged in to the pc, it will charge if the screen is off. As soon as i click the home button, it stops charging and doesn't show on the screen as plugged in. It also won't recognize it on the pc or Itunes. I already changed the dock connector with a known good one and doubled checked it to make sure.

Any suggestions?

Hello Mat,

So I had this very same issue with my iPhone 4(CDMA) and I changed out the battery, dock connector and even tried a water damage treatment once I got desperate. However this issue is seeded deep then the simple hardware and is an issue with the motherboard. There is no known fix (that I could find at least). However I would try DFU mode and see if your computer recognizes it.
