padlock sign at top showing locked
my ipod wont unlock even though the slide is at the unlock position any ideas

Possible a software fault or the switch is damaged if this device is still under warranty i would take it back for a replacement.
If not under warranty you could open the device and check the condition of the switch. (Not suggest for anyone who cant confidently disassemble and reassemble a mobile device)
