Black shows up as red on LCD screen.

On my LCD screen the black shows up as red, when I connect it to an external monitor it shows up fine though.

I ordered a 1900x1200 replacement in hopes of getting a repair and upgrade done at the same time but the problem is still persistent.

I'm working if ordering a new LCD cable or new Inverter would be my best bet. Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Thanks for the replies. New inverter it is. By the way the 1900x1200 resolution is amazing. I wished I new about the upgrade sooner.

It wasn't the inverter, it turned out to be the Logic board. Since the computer was so old, I purchased a new one. So I never found a fix, I'm a assuming since I replaced all the display parts and reinstall the OS it must be something on the logic board.

This does not look like a bad inverter, you were right to order a new display.

Oh sorry I misread your question, you say the problem has persisted. I thought you were saying that it was persisting after you had ordered it, but you had not received it yet. My bad.

In which case yes, that would point to an inverter. Any chance of a loose cable would be eliminated by a successful installation of a display.
