Mute button doesn't work. Will it get fixed by replacing the flex?

I have an iphone 4 that has problems with the mute button. Sometimes it mutes, and sometimes it doesn't matter how much I turn on or off the switch, it doesn't mute/unmute.

My question is... Is this a problem that is fixed by replacing the volume flex cable? Or is it another part of the button that needs to be fixed/replaced?

Hi there yes change the volume flex will fix this.
