backlight won't illuminate again

I have the same problem. I tried a new battery and it worked for a few days and now the backlight won't illuminate again, except for a faint flash when powering on. Any ideas what the fix might be?

Options

Try another display, else there could be someting (resistor) damaged on the PCB.
