Headphone functions not working-- sound audible, but not play/pause/FF

iPod Touch 3G with in-ear headphones with mic and remote control functions (play/pause, FF, volume control). I can hear music playing, but the playback functions do not work. I've tried resetting the device, cleaning out the earphone jack, etc. with no luck. The headphone controls used to work at one point, but no longer-- I have not dropped the device and it's still in mint condition. Please help!

did you try the headpnones on another device ?

i would guess that they are simply defective - many of those headphones are simply electronic garbage - sorry to say it that hard. the are produced for around 0.01$ in china. surely - you can also have faulty "good ones".

depending on the age and the price of the headphones i would contact the seller - if they were ultra cheap ones - get better ones.

i have seen many of those parts - and when i see a brandnew "original" for around 1$.... well, i can't believe that people still think that those parts are in fact originals.

repairing those headphones would be almost impossible - but as i said - i would check it first with another device or another headphone on the iPod
