Yes, it is. I did it with iMac late 2009 27" i7. I have ordered OCZ vertex 3,5" and also old thermal sensor 593-0518 from old 24" iMac. I have been realy nervous about it, but it works perfectly. Fans don't turn on all the time and it is incredibly fast now. The replacement took me about 30 minutes and I can recomend it at all.
