Flickering display - inverter or inverter cable?

I have an A1181 macbook that has a problem with the screen brightness flickering.

The problem occurs when I adjust the screen angle or when I adjust brightness on the computer. The screen will flicker for about a second and the brightness will fluctuate, about as much as one or two normal brightness adjustments via software. Another action that causes flickering is when the computer dims the brightness after a time of inactivity.

Is is more likely to be a problem with the inverter or the inverter cable? What baffles me is that it is triggered both by software and by physically moving the display. Should I just replace both parts?

Answer this question I have this problem too

The dimness during inactivity is a setting found under Energy Saver in your system profile. A damaged inverter cable will cause a screen flickering when the screen is moved. Software running should not give you problems. Get the first two issues fixed and see if the last doesn't go away.

I also thought that moving the screen had to be the cable.

To clarify, I know about the screen dimming, it has always worked without a problem, but now it sometimes flickers the moment it tries to reduce brightness. Could this also be the cable?
